Chris Morgan served 12 years (1999-2011) as the College’s Director of Athletics, playing a key role in the school’s transition from a four-team NAIA school to a 10-team NCAA Division II institution.  Goldey-Beacom won eight CACC titles under his watch, competed in 13 NCAA Regional tournaments and saw the men’s golf team win the 2006 NCAA Regional, the school’s first victory in an NCAA Championship event.  He also established a policy requiring GBC student-athletes to maintain a 2.5 GPA (more stringent than the NCAA policy that requires a 2.0).  As a result, the average student-athlete GPA has been over a 3.0 every year since he arrived.  Morgan also managed a department that was ranked third in Division II for gender equity compliance in 2007 by the Women's Sport Foundation, was recognized by the NCAA for Overall Excellence in Diversity in 2008, served on numerous NCAA Regional and National Sport Committees, was the Vice-President of the CACC and appointed in 2011 to serve for the NCAA Division II Nominating Committee.  He also was the head women's soccer coach at Goldey-Beacom from 1999-2003, helping the team reach the 2002 NAIA Region X Independent Tournament final.  That squad duplicated its 14-win total from the previous season to equal the school record, a mark that would not be broken for another 16 years.
