Frequently Asked Questions

Q:         Do you provide athletic scholarships?
A:         As a Division II program, Goldey-Beacom College does offer athletic scholarships. All students who wish to qualify for an athletic scholarship must file all federal, state and college financial aid application forms. Failure to do so will result in your inability to be considered for an athletic scholarship. The head coach of each team makes initial recommendations to the director of athletics in regard to athletic scholarships. If you wish to explore athletic scholarship opportunities, you should make (and maintain) contact with the respective head coach. We strongly suggest early application, acceptance and a campus visitation.

Q:         Is any student allowed to try out for an intercollegiate team?
A:         Yes, but most teams do not hold open tryouts. Interested students should contact the specific coach.

Q:         May I call or e-mail a coach even if I have not been recruited?
A:         Absolutely. We encourage interested students to make contact directly with the coach or the athletic department.

Q:         What is the eligibility requirement to participate in athletics?
A:         All student-athletes must be enrolled in a full-time program of study and be in good academic standing as determined by the academic standards found in the GBC Student Handbook.

Q:         Can I try out for a team even if I was not recruited?
A:         Yes, but most teams do not hold open tryouts. Interested students can contact the specific coach.

Q:         Do you hire student employees in the athletic department?
A:         Yes. We hire students to work in a variety of positions, including office duties, game operations and statistical assistance.

Q:         Do student workers have to be athletes?
A:         No.
