GBC Women’s Soccer Defeats Alumni, 2-0

PIKE CREEK, Del. – Sophomore Kelly Williams scored in the 26th minute and junior Ashley Longo added an insurance goal near the 60th minute as the Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team won its annual exhibition Alumni Game, 2-0 on Sat. afternoon at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field.

Williams opened the scoring for the day when she dribbled down the right side of the field and sent a shot into the left corner of the net to put GBC up 1-0.

Then after a long scoring drought, junior Ashley Longo found the right corner of the net off a nice feed from junior Marissa Valladares for an insurance goal.

Junior Kristin Degenhardt and sophomore Alyssa Vetrano split time in net and held the Alumni without a goal for the entire 80-minute game.

GBC will take the field again on Tues., Aug. 24 when the Lightning host a scrimmage against Division I Delaware State at 3 p.m.
