Goldey-Beacom women's soccer opened up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play against Chestnut Hill, but was dealt a 1-2 loss in Plymouth Whitemarsh, PA.
Chestnut Hill came out strong in the first half and scored its two goals for the game in the first 20 minutes. The first came in the fifth minute from Rebecca Dalton, assisted by Kendall Gayton, and second in the 18th minute on an unassisted goal by Hayden Johnston.
In the second half, the Lightning got themselves on the board in the 74th minute of play when freshman Nataly Ruiz (Wilmington, DE) found the back of the net for her first goal of the season. Chestnut Hill held off Goldey-Beacom for the rest of the game to take the 2-1 victory.
Freshman Malaika Nunziata (Cape Town, South Africa) finished with an impressive 13 saves on 15 faced shots.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Saturday, hosting Caldwell for a noon game at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field.
