PIKE CREEK, Del. - The Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team moved above .500 for the second time this season as the Lightning dominated Cheyney University, 3-0 in non-league play at the Joseph West Jones Center on Tues. night.
GBC (6-5) completed the season sweep of Cheyney by winning in straight sets: 25-3, 25-12 and 25-5. The Wolves fell to 0-8 with the loss.

Catherine Howard all led the team with three kills apiece. Dempsey and Howard also had seven and five service aces, respectively.
The Lightning overwhelmed the Wolves as they had a .350 match attack percentage and held Cheyney to -.45 percent. GBC combined for 20 kills and just six erros while Cheyney had five kills and 22 errors. The Lightning's .350 hitting percentage was the best it has hit since Oct. 9, 2009 when they hit .360 against Bowie State University.
Goldey-Beacom was most dominant in the first and third sets. In set one, the Lightning had seven kills and zero errors on 14 attack attempts (.500) and in set three, they had eight kills and just one error on 11 attempts (.636).
The Lightning are back in action on Thurs. night as they host Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division foe Holy Family at 7 p.m. in the Jones Center. GBC is 1-1 within its own division thus far this year.
