Another incredible season for Goldey-Beacom saw Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year and first team all-conference, sophomore Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) picked second team all-league a second consecutive year and sophomore Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) tabbed third team all-league.

Fullwood provided Goldey-Beacom the help at middle blocker it desperately needed with her powerful spikes and defensive presence at the net.  A gifted athlete who has been a major part of the Lightning's ascent, Fullwood has started all 27 matches she has played this season.

She is first in the CACC with 0.96 blocks per set and third with 98 blocks.  Fullwood's blocks total already is the fifth-best single-season mark in team history and she has notched doubles figures in kills 13 times, including 17 on September 20 vs. Lock Haven.

Fernandez has been a valuable defensive presence at libero the last two years, getting to would-be kills that astoundingly turned into Lightning points.  One of the College's most valuable players in any sport, she has started all 59 matches in her career and this year was picked the league's Defensive Player of the Week four times.

She is fifth in the country with 618 digs and 12th with 5.52 digs per set.  Her 1,201 career digs has her sixth in team history and her total this year is second in GBC annals.

Malena battled back from injury to take over as the number one setter, placing herself as one of the most vital players on offense that also includes her outstanding serve.  Another tremendous athlete who continues to make the program better, Malena has started all 29 matches this season.

She is 48th in the country with 46 aces, 50th with 894 assists, 90th with 7.98 assists per set and seventh in team history with 1,116 career assists.  Malena this year has recorded 16 double-doubles, including six straight from October 21-November 8.

It was yet another incredible season for the Lightning (16-13, 10-5 CACC), who played in the CACC Tournament in consecutive years for the first time since 2006.  The squad had a pair of five-match winning streaks and amassed its greatest win total since getting 25 victories in its 2005 CACC championship campaign.
