LYNDHURST, N.J. - Junior goalkeeper Ignacio Farias made a season-high 13 saves, but one slip-up on a goal kick in the 75th minute led to the only goal of the night by Felician's Jose Campos, as the host Falcons defeated the Goldey-Beacom College men's soccer team, 1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on a beautiful, clear Autumn Sat. night.

Farias did everything he could to give his Lightning a chance, making one acrobatic save after another and stonewalling Felician on its Senior Night through over 74 minutes of play. The Falcons had a prime opportunity to grab an early lead in the 14th minute with a penalty kick, but squandered that chance when a Felician player crossed the line before what would have been a converted goal, resulting in a retry. Felician's Adrian Sutcliffe tried the same spot as his first successful attempt, and this time Farias made the stop. The game was scoreless at halftime.

The Falcons went on to out-shoot the Lightning 20-1 in the second half (27-2 for the game) and held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks (12-1 for the game). Farias made nine of his 13 saves in the second half, and one Felician shot by Kevin Sinic hit the crossbar in the 72nd minute.

Around the 74-minute mark, Farias shanked a goal kick off the side of his foot, and it trickled straight ahead into the middle of the field. Campos was the first to the ball, took two touches, and fired a shot pass Farias from inside the box for what proved to be the game-winning goal.

This marks the fourth one-goal loss of the season for the Lightning, who remain winless through 11 games. They host non-conference foe West Chester University next on Wed. at 4 p.m.
