Wilmington, DE – Lightning Women's Soccer dominates the field with a shutout

The Lightning Women's Soccer Team took on Columbia Union College today.  With the first half starting up the Lightning were the first to strike.  Marisa Valladares scored her third goal of the season 54 seconds into the game.  The Lightning would strike eight more times in the first half, and two more goals in the second half of the game. 

The Lightning defeated Columbia Union 11-0 for their second win of the season.  Leading the Lightning was Jeanette Benson who scored 2 goals and added an assist as well.  Benson was named an honorable mention in the CACC for Women's Soccer for the week of 9/8/2008.  Also adding goals to the dominating win was Taylor Faunt and Kate Attenberger with 2 goals.  Marisa Valladares tallied 1 goal and 3 assists, and Karin Eriksson added 1 goal and 2 assists.  Victoria Myers and Ashley Longo each finished with 1 goal. 

The Lightning will travel to Mercy College for a game on Saturday, September 13.
