Rutherford, NJ – Lightning strike back for five set victory over Felician
The Lightning volleyball team traveled to Felician College this past Saturday for an interdivisional CACC match-up. The Lightning started the first set off falling behind due to the service game of the Felician line-up. Climbing their way back into the set, the Lightning took the lead, but was unable to keep it, and dropped a very close game 27-25.
The second set proved to be similar to the first, as Felician won 25-21, and took a commanding 2-0 lead. However, all the pieces fell in place in the third set, as the Lightning charged back for a 25-19 win. The team continued their strong play in the fourth set, as strong serves and dominating offensive play lead to a 25-16 win.
In the fifth set, the Lightning stormed to a 7-1 lead, and finished the comeback winning 15-10, and the match 3-2.
The Lightning was led by the offensive strikes of Chantal Pierre and Amanda Mills, who lead the team with 20 and 11 kills respectively. AJ Hicks led the defensive end with 35 digs, while Christine Hudock added 23 digs. Roni Shaner recorded a match high 44 set assists and 18 digs.
The Lightning will next travel to Georgian Court University on Tuesday, October 28, 2008
