A starter in all 11 games for the Lightning softball team, senior infielder Ashley Zaccaria was the team's leading hitter with a .432 average during the month of March. In addition, she tallied 16 hits while scoring 10 runs with five stolen bases.
Zaccaria, who hit safely in 9 of 11 games last month, recorded a six-game hitting streak from Mar. 16 to Mar. 27 with four multi-hit games. In the first game of a doubleheader against Philadelphia University on Mar. 24, she tallied a season-high three hits with a run scored and a run batted in.
She also had three hits in the second game of a doubleheader against East Stroudsburg on Mar. 11 while scoring a pair of runs.
The Lightning's leading hitter with a .391 average this season, Zaccaria needs just seven more hits (as of Mar. 31) to become the 13th player in school history with 100 or more career hits.
