A starter in all eight games for the Lightning men's basketball team, freshman guard Donte McGill was the team's leading scorer with a 16.8 average. He scored at least 10 points in seven of the Lightning's eight games, including three 20-point efforts.
McGill led the Lightning to a win over Wilmington on Feb. 18 by scoring 23 points, making 10 of 16 field goal attempts. In addition, he tallied 23 points against Caldwell on Feb. 16 and Philadelphia University on Feb. 25.
Honored as the CACC Rookie of the Year, the Newark, Del. native led the Lightning by averaging 15.1 points per game as a freshman and set a school record by making 88.3 per cent of his free throw attempts.
