In leading the Lightning women's basketball team to a 5-1 record during the month of February, senior forward Irene Hudson (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse, N.Y.) averaged 15.8 points per game while shooting a blistering 52.5 per cent from the field. She scored in double figures in all six games, including a pair of 20-point performances.
She scored 21 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field and 9-for-12 from the foul line in the Lightning's Feb. 16 victory over Dominican and also added 20 points against Philadelphia University on Feb. 19. In the win over the Rams, she made seven of nine shots from the floor and six of seven free throws.
Hudson, who earned second team All-CACC honors for the second straight year, also had a 15-point, 12-rebound performance at Nyack on Feb. 13 as the Lightning set the school record for consecutive victories.
A starter in 26 of 28 games this season, Hudson is the Lightning's leading scorer with a 12.8 average while making 49.1 per cent of her field goal attempts.
