Senior guard Jacinda Jones led the Lightning women's basketball team to a 6-1 record in the month of January, including a four-game win streak. The Claymont, Del. native averaged a team-high 13.3 points per game while starting all seven contests. In addition, she shot an outstanding 57.8 per cent from three-point range and had a .491 overall field goal percentage.
Jones, who scored in double figures in six of the seven games, tallied a pair of 20-point efforts during the month of January. She scored a season-high 22 points in the Lightning's narrow loss to 14th-ranked Holy Family on Jan. 10, making six of nine shots from the floor, including a five-for-eight effort from three-point range.
In addition, she had 21 points in the Lightning's 76-52 triumph at Philadelphia University on Jan. 23, making 7 of 15 field goal attempts, including a 7-for-11 performance from beyond the arc.
Jones, who is the Lightning's third-leading scorer with a 10.2 average, also had back-to-back 14-point efforts against Post on Jan. 26 and at the University of the Sciences on Jan. 29.
