An already outstanding season for Goldey-Beacom's men's golf team got even better with freshmen Hunter McGee (Almont, ON) and Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) each named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Team a third straight year and freshman Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) getting his first nod.

The 2020-21 CACC Player of the Year, McGee simply has been on a tear this entire campaign that is highlighted by him winning the 2021-22 CACC individual title with 142.  This helped the Lightning close tied with the best team score at the CACC Championship.

The owner of six top-10 finishes on the season and soon to be two-time member of the league's Academic Honor Roll, McGee closed tied for second on three occasions and is averaging 74.33 over 15 rounds.  He shot 69 at the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational, four times this season broke 72 and is ranked 13th in the East Region.

After ending the 2020-21 regular season as the number one ranked golfer in the East Region according to GolfStat, McGee last summer continued to dominate by winning his second straight Ottawa Citizen Golf Championship in his home province of Ontario.  He shot 208 over three separate courses to win by an incredible 23 shots, including 65 in the second round.

Saenz Avila also has been a major factor in Goldey-Beacom's impressive campaign, averaging 76.33 over 15 rounds.  Among his six top-10 finishes, he closed second at the GBC Fall Invitational with 73, tied for third at the Charger Challenge with 74 and tied for fourth at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational with 73.

Also a two-time member of the CACC Academic Honor Roll, Saenz Avila carded a season-best 72 in the second round of the Edwin Cottrell Invitational.  He is ranked 19th in the East Region.

Samur also has recorded six top-10 finishes during the campaign, which includes winning the GBC Fall Invitational by shooting 71.  He was tied for second at the second Jefferson Invitational, tied for third at three separate tournaments and was fifth outright at the first Jefferson Invitational.

Samur, who closed tied for 11th at the CACC Championship, is ranked 26th in the East Region.

Under first-year coach Steve Golt, the journey has been more than a successful one for the Lightning.  In addition to its play at the CACC Championship, GBC won both of the Jefferson Invitationals, captured the GBC Fall Invitational and was tied for second at the Edwin Cottrell Invitational.

Goldey-Beacom is ranked fourth in the East Region, the highest ranking of any CACC school.

The season is far from over for Goldey-Beacom, which learned it qualified as a team for the NCAA Regional for the first time since 2012.  The regional combines 10 teams and four individuals from non-qualifying teams from two regions (the East and Atlantic Regions, in this case) for the right to play at the final site.

The regional will take place May 5-7 in Victory, NY and will be a 54-hole event.
