Goldey-Beacom women's soccer senior Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE), one of the greatest student-athletes in the College's history, continued her collection of awards in being named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
This honor came after she was picked Conference Commissioners Association second team All-America, CACC Player of the Year, first team CCA All-East Region and to the league's All-Tournament Team. All of this comes one year after her debut season saw her picked second team all-league.
A gifted athlete who could change the course of any match with her intuitive play, solid shooting skills and great passing, she ended the season leading NCAA Division II schools with 1.25 goals per game and first with 2.85 points per contest. The standout forward also closed second in the nation with 25 goals, fourth with 57 points, 58th with seven assists and 74th with 0.35 assists per contest.
Fannon also is the highest-rated athlete in school history among All-America status and just the second female in school history to earn this honor. Cliona Crammond in her 2018 senior campaign was picked third team CCA All-America.
Fannon the last two seasons helped elevate the program to a new level, rewrote the school's records books and placed herself among the College's elite. She graduates first in school history with 39 career goals, first with 25 single-season goals, first with 57 single-season points, second with 92 career points and tied for seventh with 14 career assists. Her goals and points are second best in CACC single-season history.
The Lightning's success in 2019 go beyond Fannon. Sophomore Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE) was selected first team All-CACC and second team CCA All-East Region with junior Kelly Mejia (State College, PA) picked second team all-league and to the CACC All-Tournament Team. Junior Rose Benjamin (North East, MD) was the CACC Top XVI Award winner for having the best GPA at the finals site with her and junior Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) also tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-District.
Goldey-Beacom (11-7-2, 8-3-1 CACC) last season advanced to the CACC semifinals a program-record third straight year, hosted a conference quarterfinal game a team-best fourth consecutive season and played in the CACC Tournament a program-record sixth straight year.
