Gonzalo Moreno Named CACC Men’s Golf Player & Rookie of the Week for a Second Time

The amazing play of Goldey-Beacom freshman Gonzalo Moreno (Seville, Spain) continued with him picked the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Player and Rookie of the Week a second time.

Moreno, who also won both honors on September 11, won the Jefferson Classic on Monday by shooting a career-best 68. This is tied for the fourth-best round in team history and he helped the Lightning win the title with 295, tied for the third-best round in program annals.

Moreno has been on an absolute tear since his arrival in Pike Creek. His first appearance that won his initial honors came when he shot 145, including a 69, at the FPU Fall Invitational.

His arrival comes at the same time some key freshmen also have been impressive in their debut campaign. Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) and Hunter McGee (Carp, ON) have exceled in both tournaments this year with the former ending third on Monday.

Goldey-Beacom next Monday and Tuesday compete at the CACC Championship, which takes place at White Beeches Golf and Country Club in Haworth, NJ. The first tee time Monday is at 8:00 am.
