Shea Murphy Named CACC Men’s Golf Player of the Week; Gonzalo Moreno Picked Rookie of the Week

Goldey-Beacom's latest strong outing saw senior Shea Murphy (Wilmington, DE) picked the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week and freshman Gonzalo Moreno (Seville, Spain) named the league's Rookie of the Week.

Murphy shot a final-round 68 on Tuesday to close the Eagle Invitational tied for second with 143. He had an eagle and three birdies to end his day three-under par after carding 75 on Monday. His 18-hole score, 36-hole score and finish all represent personal bests.

Moreno carded a final-round 70 to end the Eagle Invitational tied for fifth with 146. All four of his finishes this season have been in the top five and he is ranked third in the East Region according to GolfStat, averaging 72.71 over seven rounds.

It is the third time this season Moreno has been tabbed CACC Rookie of the Week. In the first two instances, he also was named the league's Player of the Week.

Goldey-Beacom has recorded an exceptional fall that includes top-five finishes in all four tournaments. This includes winning the Jefferson Classic and ending second at the CACC Championship.

The Lightning are ranked sixth in the East Region by GolfStat, the highest of any school in the CACC.

Le Moyne is the top team in the region and it will be hosting Goldey-Beacom along with many other schools this Friday and Saturday at the Le Moyne Invitational in Cicero, NY.
