(2018 schedule)

Goldey-Beacom returns some key players as a competitive 2018 schedule hopes it will prepare the team in hopes of bringing home a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title.

An NCAA fall-festival year means an early start as GBC opens things August 23 against Salem, part of three matches at the Kutztown Classic.  The Lightning then will make their almost-annual trip to West Chester for four matches at Ramfest from August 31-September 1.

The home opener is September 4 against East Stroudsburg and the conference slate begins the next night as GBC visits Georgian Court.

Key tests along the journey include September 14 at home against Post and then another home tilt five days later vs. reigning South Division champion Jefferson.  Early October turns out to be no easier with defending league champion Caldwell at home on the sixth and a visit to Jefferson three days later.

The last week of the season could be pivotal with a trip to perennial power Holy Family on October 31 and the regular-season finale November 3 at home against Georgian Court.

The conference tournament begins November 6 with the semifinals and final later that week in Lakewood, NJ.

One of the go-to players this season is junior Makinsie Balderson (Fairfax, VA), who has been a vital player in many ways over her first two seasons.  Last season, she was sixth in the country with 60 aces, 10th with 0.54 aces per set, 24th in the league with 281 digs and 31st with 62 assists.  Balderson enters the season tied for eighth in school history with 103 aces.

Senior Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA) has been an incredibly important piece to the puzzle during her time at setter and once again hopes to be one of the key players.  She closed last season 17th in the CACC with 4.33 assists per set, 19th with 342 assists and 21st with 0.34 aces per set.  Florence begins this year third in school history with 1,907 assists.

A welcome addition back to the lineup is sophomore outside hitter Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ), who missed all of last season due to injury.  The 2016 CACC Rookie of the Year is as important to the lineup as anyone, finishing that year 53rd in the country with 3.72 kills per set, 66th with 4.17 points per set and eighth in the league with 331 kills.
