Goldey-Beacom once again put its name among the academic realm with four of its student-athletes from the soccer teams named Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District.

Senior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) from the men's side became the first student-athlete in school history in any sport to receive this honor a maximum third time.  Senior Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland), sophomore Rose Benjamin (North East, MD) and junior Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) from the women's side all made Academic All-District for the first time.

The four represent the most Goldey-Beacom has placed on the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District squads both in one season and in one academic year.  The Lightning, who have five Academic All-Americas in their history, last year recorded a 3.33 cumulative grade point average and saw 68 of its student-athletes get at least a 3.5 GPA.

Aghrim's honor comes one year after he became the first GBC student-athlete in any sport to be named first team CCA All-America and first team Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-America.  He also was picked first team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in 2016 and 2017 in addition to making the 2017 CACC All-Tournament team, during which he helped Goldey-Beacom to its second CACC title and first trip to the NCAA Tournament.

A standout midfielder who electrified many with his scoring ability and unbelievable speed, Aghrim graduates second in school history with 28 assists, fourth with 68 points and fifth with 20 goals.  He sits 198th in the nation this season with four assists that included two on September 17 vs. Shippensburg and scored against both Post and Chestnut Hill.

Crammond gave her all in four years at midfield with her solid play, outstanding passing skills, game-changing ability on free kicks and overall will to win.  A three-time member of the CACC Academic Honor Roll, she also was tabbed to the CACC All-Tournament Team a second straight year as well as first team All-CACC this season.

She is 48th in the country with 31 points, 50th with 12 goals, 60th with seven assists, 65th with 1.55 points per game and 73rd with 0.60 goals per game.  Crammond recorded two goals and an assist in three separate contests this season in addition to getting a point in 10 games.

Crammond graduates tied for second in team history with 30 goals, third outright with 19 assists and third with 79 points.  She started all 76 of the Lightning's games during her career.

Benjamin is a vital player at midfield who has helped Goldey-Beacom sit seventh in the country with 173 points, sixth with 63 goals, 10th with 47 assists, 11th with 8.65 points per game and 14th with 2.35 assists per contest.  A consistently strong player who is very tough to take off the pitch, she played in 19 games this season with 17 starts.

Kristoffersen, who played in 18 games on defense, was a major part of the back line which yielded just 27 goals on the year and forced its opponents into a .132 shooting percentage.  She scored against Caldwell, Concordia (NY) and in the CACC quarterfinals vs. Nyack.

Goldey-Beacom (15-5, 11-1 CACC) enjoyed a remarkable campaign in which it broke the school record for most wins, most conference victories, most home wins with nine and a team-record 63 goals.  The Lightning won their first six games both overall and in the conference for the best starts in team annals and recorded their third straight season of double-digit wins for the first time in program history.

This season also marked the first time Goldey-Beacom played in the CACC semifinals in consecutive years.  The quarterfinal triumph also marked the first time in program history it had won a conference tournament game in back-to-back seasons.

The Lightning had three players named first team all-conference with sophomore Kelly Mejia (State College, PA) tabbed the league's Defensive Player of the Year, four picked second team and Dan Frick named coach of the year for the second time in three seasons.

GBC also has 39 victories over its last three seasons that is a school record for that period.
