Goldey-Beacom, coming off its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title, has been picked in 2017 to repeat as champions.

The 2016-17 campaign was yet another magical one for the program, which enters its 13th year.  The Lightning (14-4, 7-0 CACC) recorded the first CACC title in school history with a 5-1 triumph over Post and clinched their sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament.  They notched the best conference mark in team history, were the top seed in the conference tournament for the first time and their 11-0 start was the best in team annals.

Goldey-Beacom closed third in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region and also was a number three seed for the NCAA Tournament.  GBC upended Southern New Hampshire in the first round and led 44th-ranked Queens (NY) in the second round after doubles.

A key player back this season is sophomore Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain), who was picked first team All-CACC after closing the season 9-4 in singles that included 4-0 at No. 2 singles and won her first five matches that all ended in straight sets.  She was picked to the CACC All-Tournament Team and was named CACC Rookie of the Month for March.

Hortelano Pey also played No. 2 doubles with senior Raquel Morais (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and notched a pair of huge victories.  The duo recorded a big 9-8 (7-4) win vs. University of the Sciences in the CACC semifinals and then teamed for an 8-6 triumph vs. Southern New Hampshire in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Sophomore Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) also played a huge role in the team's success with a 13-4 singles record.  She also recorded a 13-2 mark in doubles with sophomore Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain), who went 12-4 in singles.

The duo won their first 10 doubles matches last season and both of their rubbers in the NCAA Tournament.

Garcia Valle and the Hortelano Pey twins were named to the CACC All-Tournament Team.

Goldey-Beacom opens its season September 12 at home against University of the Sciences.
