Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women’s Tennis Falls, 6-1, to Wilmington

Goldey-Beacom played solidly against Wilmington (DE), but was handed a 6-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.

Camilla Franzin (Trieste, Italy), the reigning CACC Player of the Week who should be receiving good news from the league once the end-of-the-year awards are announced, again played great.  She received yet another battle from Siana MacDonald at first singles and this time came up with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) victory.  It came just days after Franzin dropped a third-set tiebreak against MacDonald for the former's only singles loss of the season.

Another bright spot for the Lightning was the No. 2 doubles team of senior Nahomi Quinonez (Manta, Ecuador) and freshman Jenna Frank (Ulm, Germany).  The duo took Elena Camacho and Gloria Barcaro to a tiebreak, but dropped a 7-6 (7-4) decision.

This sets the stage for Goldey-Beacom (4-5, 4-5 CACC) against Chestnut Hill on Thursday at 2:00 pm at The Independence School to end the regular season.  The winner will be the third seed in the CACC Tournament semifinals and will face No. 2 seed Wilmington on Saturday at 1:00 pm.  The loser will be the fourth seed and battle top-seeded Jefferson at 10:00 am.

The conference tournament will take place at Delcastle Tennis Center.
