Women’s Tennis Clinches Third Place in the CACC With 4-3 Victory Over Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom won two of its singles matches in decisive fashion and locked up the No. 3 seed for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 4-3 triumph over Chestnut Hill at The Independence School in Newark, DE.
 
Goldey-Beacom (5-5, 5-5 CACC) on Saturday will battle second-seeded Wilmington (DE) at 1:00 pm, which follows the 10:00 am match between Chestnut Hill (5-7, 4-6) and top-seeded Jefferson.  The tournament will take place at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Lightning once again saw their doubles units get the squad off to an impressive start.  Sophomore Camilla Franzin (Trieste, Italy) and senior Lucia Corte (Gijon, Spain) moved to 5-1 as a unit with a 6-2 win over Lilian Bandel and Elena Arenas Guisasola at first doubles before freshman Jenna Frank (Ulm, Germany) and sophomore Ihsane Achouri (Casablanca, Morocco) got a 6-4 triumph vs. Claudia Rasilla Romero and Veronika Lundgren at No. 2 doubles.
 
Franzin improved to 6-1 at singles, all at No. 1, with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph over Milica Zagorac and Frank moved to 6-4 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Arenas Guisasola at third singles.  Goldey-Beacom also got a win at sixth singles via forfeit.
 
Saturday will mark the second straight year Goldey-Beacom will compete in the CACC Tournament and the 14th overall.
