(2017 schedule)

Goldey-Beacom's volleyball squad took great strides a season ago and now looks for even bigger things in 2017 as the team's schedule was released.

The season opens September 1 against Salem International in West Chester and continues that night vs. Millersville.  GBC the next day continues in Ramfest against Franklin Pierce and West Chester.

Play in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference begins September 13 at Chestnut Hill, one of three road matches to open league competition.  One of those matches is September 22 against reigning league champion Thomas Jefferson, the former Philadelphia University.

After 11 total matches away from Pike Creek, the Lightning on September 23 finally play their home opener against Felician.  Yet another road match follows four days later as Goldey-Beacom heads to New Castle for a big CACC South Division match at Wilmington (DE).

The return match with Thomas Jefferson is October 17 in Wilmington, part of a four-match homestand.  The second match against Wilmington (DE) is October 31 and the home finale is November 8 vs. University of the Sciences.

The league and regular-season finale is November 11 at Caldwell, a participant in last year's CACC final.

Teams play each of their six division opponents twice and the seven teams in the opposite division once.  The top four teams in each division compete in the CACC Tournament, which begins November 14.  The semifinals and final take place later that week in Newark, DE.

Goldey-Beacom (11-15, 6-13 CACC) a season ago was declared the NCAA Division II statistical champion for aces per set with 2.4.  The Lightning also recorded a four-win improvement in both their overall and conference records.

One of the key pieces returning this season is sophomore outside hitter Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ), whose impeccable play and immediate impact helped her to be named CACC Rookie of the Year.  Expected to get even more touches this fall, Przywara a season ago closed 53rd in the country with 3.72 kills per set, 66th with 4.17 points per set, eighth in the league with 331 kills, 18th with a .219 hitting percentage, 30th with 29 aces, 39th with 2.57 digs per set and 40th with 229 digs.

Przywara's 331 kills were seventh in school history and she enters the year ninth in team annals with a .219 hitting percentage.

Also back is junior setter Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, VA), who has been a great catalyst and leader for the offense.  Looking to join Przywara with some league accolades, Florence a season ago ended 33rd in the nation with 0.46 aces per set, 88th with 41 aces, 96th with 9.64 assists per set and fifth in the CACC with 858 assists.

Back for a third year on the front line is senior Jada Canteen (Newark, DE), who has been a valuable attacker at both middle hitter and the right side.  She closed last season 16th in the CACC with a .221 hitting percentage, 28th with seven block solos, 34th with 1.77 kills per set, 39th with 156 kills, 41st with 33 total blocks and 44th with 26 block assists.
