After a solid 2014 campaign, Goldey-Beacom looks to try improving on that as the 2015 slate was announced.

GBC begins the year with two games in North Carolina, facing Barton in a neutral-site affair September 4 before battling Mount Olive two days later.  The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener is September 12 at Felician and the home opener is three days later vs. Chestnut Hill.

Things will not get easier for the Lightning, who face last year's top two CACC teams in the same week.  Goldey-Beacom visits defending-champion Philadelphia U. on September 23 before hosting Post on the 26th.

The Post game begins a stretch in which GBC plays eight of its final 11 contests at home.  This includes October 3 during Homecoming Weekend against Nyack, the league finale October 27 vs. Holy Family and the regular-season finale October 31 against Pittsburgh-Johnstown.

The top eight teams make the conference tournament, which commences November 3.  The semifinals and final will be held later that week in Waterbury, CT.

It is a shame GBC only plays seven road games since last season it won eight such contests for the first time in school history.  But it will have a chance to duplicate last year's record of winning seven straight road matches.

The squad last year had a winning overall record (9-6-1) for the first time since 2003, a winning CACC mark (6-5-1) for the first time since 2005 and played in the conference tournament for the first time since 2006.

Senior Megan Harvis (Delran, NJ) is one of the returnees who will be looked at for major contributions.  She ended the 2014 campaign, her first on the club, with eight assists and closed 13th in the nation with 0.57 assists per game.  Harvis is just two assists outside of the school's career top-10 list.

Sophomore Amy Runciman (Luton, England) was no slouch with her passing, closing with six assists that had her 67th in the country with 0.38 per contest.

After winning last year's battle for the role as top goalkeeper, junior Cindell Aguirre (El Paso, TX) is back, entering the season third in school history with a 2.39 goals against average and fifth with 98 saves.

The Lightning ended last season seventh in the country with 2.25 assists per game, eighth with 7.63 points per contest and 11th with 2.69 goals per game.  GBC also is four victories shy of reaching 100 in team history.
