Men's Soccer to Finish Road Trip at Philadelphia University

Lightning and Rams to Square Off on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Coach Ryan Dixon and the Lightning will finish their five-match road trip at Philadelphia University.


WILMINGTON, Del. - Looking to end its five-match road trip on a positive note, the Lightning men's soccer team will travel to Philadelphia University on Wednesday, Sept. 18 for a 4:30 p.m. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against the Rams at Ravenhill Field.

The Lightning will be trying to earn their first win in five matches this season when they visit the Rams on Wednesday afternoon. Goldey-Becom dropped its most recent contest on Saturday afternoon, a 5-0 CACC loss at Caldwell. Senior goalkeeper Carlos Meinhard (Caracas, Venezuela) made four saves in a losing effort for the Lightning, who were outshot by an 18-10 margin.

Senior midfielder Andre Jank (Campo Grande, Brazil) and sophomore defender Daniel Bennett (Arthur P. Schalick H.S./Pittsgrove, N.J.) have accounted for two of the Lightning's three goals this season. The team also received an own goal against Lock Haven last Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, Meinhard has started all four matches for the Lightning and has posted a 4.10 goals against average while stopping 62.8 per cent of the shots he has faced.

Off to a 2-2-0 overall start, the Rams dropped their CACC opener on Saturday by a 1-0 margin at Dominican to snap a two-match win streak. The Rams were limited to just two shots in the defensive affair as the Chargers were able to take just seven shots.

Sophomore defender Angelo Dambalas (Cherokee H.S./Marlton, N.J.) is the Rams' leading scorer with two goals while freshman midfielder Armando Canela (Marlborough H.S./Marlborough, Mass.) has accounted for a goal with two assists. Junior goalkeeper Thomas Attamante (West Orange H.S./West Orange, N.J.) has started all four matches for the Rams and has a 1.25 goals against average along with a .615 save percentage.

Following Wednesday's match, the Lightning will begin a three-match homestand on Saturday, Sept. 21 by facing Post University at 1 p.m.
