WILMINGTON, Del. - Looking to rebound from its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss of the season, the Lightning volleyball team will resume its non-conference schedule on Thursday night by starting a three-match road trip at Bowie State. Opening serve at the A.C. Jordan Arena is set for 6 p.m.
Now 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the CACC, the Lightning have dropped two of their last three matches after a three-set defeat against Georgian Court on Tuesday night at the Jones Center. Sophomore outside hitter
Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) led the Lightning with a team-high 10 kills while hitting .350.
Meanwhile, senior middle hitter
Catherine Howard (William Penn H.S./New Castle, Del.) had seven kills against the Lions along with a .500 hitting percentage.
Sophomore outside hitter
Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.), who earned honorable mention notice for the CACC weekly awards in each of the last two weeks, leads the Lightning with 70 kills and 61 digs while Moyer has contributed 69 kills.
Senior setter/opposite
Monica Dempsey (Secaucus H.S./Secaucus, N.J.) has tallied 113 assists in 23 sets and ranks second on the team with 13 service aces. She also ranks second with 55 digs, including a season-high 14 digs against Virginia State.
Entering Thursday night's match at Bowie State, Dempsey needs nine digs to become the fifth player in school history with at least 1,000 career digs. With four digs against Georgian Court on Tuesday night, she moved into fifth place on the Lightning's career digs list.
Currently 0-8 on the season, the Lady Bulldogs will be looking to earn their first win of the season on Thursday night after suffering a three-set loss against the University of the District of Columbia on Tuesday night. The Lady Bulldogs have won just three sets this season, including a set against Goldey-Beacom in each of their two previous meetings.
Freshman outside hitter

Marissa Martinez (Valley H.S./Albuquerque, N.M.) has a team-high 92 digs.
The Lightning and the Lady Bulldogs will be meeting for the third time this season. On Sept. 1, Moyer recorded 12 kills as Goldey-Beacom defeated Bowie State in a four-set match at the University of the District of Columbia "Battle in the Nation's Capital" tournament.
Meanwhile, McCoy posted her first "double double" of the season with 19 kills and 12 digs on Saturday afternoon as the Lightning overcame a one-set deficit to earn another four-set victory over the Lady Bulldogs at the Jones Center.
After Thursday's match, the Lightning will travel to Mercy College on Saturday for a tri-match against the host Mavericks and Southern New Hampshire.
