WILMINGTON, Del.
- Looking to earn its first win of the season, the Lightning women's soccer team will begin a three-match homestand on Tuesday afternoon by hosting local rival Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex at 3 p.m.

It will be the first of six home matches for the Lightning to be played at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex this season while the team's Homecoming game against Caldwell on Oct. 13 will be played on campus at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field.

Now 0-3-0 on the season, the Lightning dropped a pair of CACC contests last week. After suffering a 3-0 setback at Philadelphia University on Thursday afternoon, the Lightning suffered a tough 1-0 setback against Bloomfield College on Saturday morning.

Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Vetrano has played all three games for the Lightning this season, posting a 2.00 goals against average while stopping 71.4 per cent of the shots she has faced. She made a season-high six saves against Philadelphia University on Thursday before adding five saves against Bloomfield.

Off to a 1-2-1 start this season, the Wildcats earned their first win of the season on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Dominican in double overtime. After falling behind by a 1-0 margin, the Wildcats scored in the final five minutes of regulation to force overtime before scoring the game-winner in the second overtime period on a penalty kick marker from senior Penelope Fantis.

Sophomore Victoria Vasapolli is the Wildcats' leading scorer with two goals this season, including the game-tying marker against Dominican, while three other players have each scored a goal. Senior goalkeeper Amanda Walters has posted a 2.21 goals against average while stopping 69.7 per cent of the shots she has faced.

The Lightning will be looking to defeat the Wildcats for the second straight year after a 2-1 victory last year at Kirkwood Soccer Complex. Sophomore forward Alexandra Smith tallied both of the Lightning's goals in the victory to give Goldey-Beacom its first triumph over Wilmington since 2008.

The Lightning will continue their three-match homestand on Saturday afternoon by hosting Felician College at 1 p.m.
