Goldey-Beacom vs. Georgian Court Live Stats
WILMINGTON, Del. - After splitting a pair of non-conference matches against Bowie State and UMass-Lowell on Saturday, the Lightning volleyball team will wrap up its three-match homestand on Tuesday night by hosting Georgian Court in the Joseph West Jones College Center at 7 p.m.
It will also be the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener for the Lightning while Georgian Court has an 0-1 CACC record after falling to Philadelphia University on Thursday night.
Now 3-2 on the season, the Lightning overcame a three-set loss against UMass-Lowell on Saturday in their home opener to earn a four-set victory over Bowie State in the nightcap. By splitting the two matches, Goldey-Beacom has now won three of its last four matches after opening the season with a four-set loss against Elizabeth City State on Aug. 31.
Sophomore outside hitter
Kadi McCoy continued her strong start to the season with a pair of impressive efforts on Saturday. After setting a season high with 15 digs with nine kills against UMass-Lowell, McCoy recorded her first "double double" of the season with a 19-kill, 11-dig performance against Bowie State. It was the 10th "double double" of her college career.
The CACC leader with a 3.20 kill per set average, McCoy leads the Lightning with 62 kills and is also tied for the team lead with 11 service aces. She has posted 49 of those kills in the Lightning's last three matches.
Meanwhile, Georgian Court is looking to continue its recent success after earning a three-set sweep over UMass-Lowell on Friday night at the GCU Wellness Center. Now 2-4 on the season, the Lions snapped a two-match losing streak with the victory over the Riverhawks.
Sophomore outside hitter
Anabelle Barinas led the Lions to the win on Friday night by recording 11 kills with a .478 hitting percentage while sophomore
Tatiana Villirany Rodriguez added 10 kills while hitting .409. As a team, the Lions hit .250, including a .364 mark in the third set with just one attack error.
Barinas has tallied a team-high 59 kills this season for the Lions while hitting .227 in 21 sets while
Amy Berry has added 59 kills with seven blocks.
After Tuesday's match, the Lightning start a three-match road trip on Thursday night by traveling to Bowie State for their third meeting with the Lady Bulldogs this season. Goldey-Beacom has won both meetings so far this year in four-set decisions.
