WILMINGTON, Del. - After having its non-conference match against Lincoln University postponed due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy, the Lightning volleyball team will begin a busy stretch on Wednesday night by traveling to Philadelphia University for a 7 p.m. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against the Rams at the Gallagher Center.

Now 4-20 overall and 0-16 in the CACC, the Lightning have been idle since dropping a heartbreaking five-set verdict at Bloomfield College on Saturday afternoon. After dropping the opening set against the Deacons, the Lightning stormed back to take the second and third sets. However, the Deacons answered by taking the fourth and fifth sets en route to the victory.
Sophomore outside hitter
Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) led the Lightning in Saturday's loss at Bloomfield by posting a career-high 24 kills along with a .397 hitting percentage and eight digs. Meanwhile, senior setter/opposite
Monica Dempsey (Secaucus H.S./Secaucus, N.J.) added her 10th “double double” of the season by posting a match-high 27 assists with 14 digs. She also added five kills in the loss.
In addition, freshman defensive specialist
Mackenzie Wilson (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) contributed a season-high 22 digs while senior middle hitter
Catherine Howard (William Penn H.S./New Castle, Del.) had seven kills with six solo blocks.
With 290 kills in 24 matches this season, McCoy ranks fourth in the CACC while her 3.37 kills per set ranks second in the conference. She has posted 20 or more kills three times this season and has moved into seventh place on the Lightning's single-season kills list.
Meanwhile, Dempsey enters Tuesday night's match ranked fourth in the CACC by averaging 0.50 service aces per set. With 178 career service aces, she ranks third in school history and enters this week's matches needing just 107 assists to become the second player in school history with 2,000 career assists.
With an 18-8 overall record and a 12-5 mark in the CACC, the Rams have secured a berth in the CACC Tournament, which will begin next week. The Rams have won four of their last five matches after earning a four-set victory over Post University on Saturday afternoon.
Junior outside hitter
Brittany Olson led the Rams to the victory over the Eagles on Saturday afternoon, recording a match-high 15 kills with 17 digs. Meanwhile, freshman outside hitter
Allison Manley also had a "double double" in the win with 12 kills and 17 digs.
The Rams had a .302 hitting percentage as a team with just 11 attack errors against the Eagles with 10 service aces and 7.0 total team blocks.
The Rams, who are 9-2 at home this season, are led by Olson, who has a team-high 245 kills, while senior outside hitter
Ellie Edgar ranks third on the team with 155 kills and has a team-high 102 blocks.
The Lightning will be looking to avenge a three-set loss against the Rams on Oct. 3 at the Jones Center. McCoy led the Lightning by tallying a match-high 10 kills with five digs while Dempsey contributed a "double double" with 11 assists and 10 digs.
Wednesday's match will mark the beginning of a busy stretch to end the season for the Lightning, who will play three matches in four days. Goldey-Beacom will also welcome Post University to the Joseph West Jones College Center on Friday night before visiting Concordia on Saturday afternoon.
