Lightning Searching for First CACC Win of Season

WILMINGTON, Del.
- Hoping to rebound from a three-set setback against Holy Family on Wednesday night, the Lightning volleyball team will continue a busy week with a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches this weekend. After visiting Georgian Court on Friday night, the Lightning will travelto Dominican on Saturday afternoon.

Now 4-16 overall and 0-12 in the CACC, the Lightning will be trying to earn their first conference victory of the season when they compete at Georgian Court and Dominican. Goldey-Beacom will also be trying to snap a 13-match losing streak after dropped a 26-24, 25-15, 25-19 decision against the Tigers on Wednesday night at the Joseph West Jones College Center.

Sophomore outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) led the Lightning with seven kills and nine digs while senior setter/opposite Monica Dempsey (Secaucus H.S./Secaucus, N.J.) added 11 assists with nine digs. Meanwhile, sophomore defensive specialist Niki Receveur (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) posted a team-high 11 digs.

Despite being limited to seven kills against the Tigers on Wednesday night, McCoy ranks second in the CACC by averaging 3.38 kills per set. In addition, she ranks third in the CACC with 240 kills in 20 matches, including 10 or more kills in 10 of her last 13 matches. In addition, she leads the Lightning with 200 digs and ranks second on the team with 20 service aces.

Meanwhile, Dempsey leads the Lightning with 317 assists and 37 service aces while ranking fourth in the CACC by averaging 0.54 service aces per set. She also enters this weekend's matches needing 174 assists to become the second player in school history to reach 2,000 career assists. In addition, she needs four service aces to move into third place on the Lightning's all-time list.

Currently 10-13 overall and 7-5 in the CACC, the Lions will be looking to recover from a four-set defeat against West Chester on Tuesday night. However, the Lions have won three of their last five matches and enter Friday's match in fourth place in the CACC South Division standings.

Senior outside hitter Amy Berry (Manchester Regional H.S./Bayville, N.J.) led the Lions in the loss with a match-high 15 kills while sophomore setter Jaslene Lopez (Coamo, P.R.) earned her fourth "double double" of the season with 37 assists and 11 digs.

Berry leads the Lions with 212 kills in 85 sets while sophomore middle hitter Tatiana Villariny Rodriguez (Rio Grande, P.R.) has added 209 kills with 34 blocks, which ranks second on the team. Meanwhile, Lopez ranks third in the CACC by averaging 8.92 assists per set.

The Lightning will be looking to avenge a three-set loss against the Lions on Sept. 11 at the Jones Center as Villariny Rodriguez tallied a match-high 14 kills and hit .619 in the victory. Meanwhile, sophomore outside hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) led the Lightning in a losing effort with 10 kills and a .350 hitting percentage.

With a 16-7 overall record, the Chargers enter this weekend's action in first place in the CACC North Division with a 12-0 conference mark. Prior to facing the Lightning on Saturday afternoon, the Chargers will travel to Post University on Friday night.

After a four-set victory over the University of the Sciences on Saturday afternoon, the Chargers have won 10 consecutive matches and have lost just seven sets during that streak. Senior outside hitter Courtney Heard (Buena H.S./Ventura, Calif.) led Dominican to the victory over the Devils on Saturday with a career-high 18 kills and a .389 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, freshman outside hitter Tori Dexter (Selah H.S./Selah, Wash.) added a "double double" with 12 kills and 12 digs.

Dexter leads the Chargers with 198 kills in 23 matches this season while ranking second on the team with 29 service aces. Meanwhile, Heard has contributed 170 kills and is tied for second on the team with 29 blocks.

Senior setter Whitney Ranger (Buena H.S./Ventura, Calif.) has tallied 726 assists for the Chargers while senior libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller H.S./Keller, Texas) leads the CACC by averaging 4.92 digs per set while her 418 digs rank third in the conference.

The Chargers earned a four-set victory over the Lightning last year at the Jones Center as Heard posted 11 kills and a .364 hitting percentage while Fuller had a match-high 23 digs. McCoy led the Lightning in a losing effort with 11 kills while Dempsey posted a "double double" with 24 assists and 17 digs.

After this weekend's matches, the Lightning will return to the Jones Center on Tuesday evening to host Wilmington University in a key CACC South Division match-up at 7 p.m.
