BEAR, Del. – Former Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer player Megan O'Donnell coached the Alexis I. duPont High School girls' soccer team to a 2-0 victory over archrival Charter School of Wilmington in the DIAA Girls' Soccer State Tournament championship on Fri., June 3.
The Tigers did not allow a single goal in four state tournament games en-route to the school's first girls' soccer state championship since 2004 and sixth since the tournament began in 1995.
O'Donnell, who won a high school state championship as a senior with St. Mark's in 2000, was a four-year player at GBC from 2001 through 2004.
She played on the two most successful teams in the GBC women's soccer program's history in 2001 and 2002 when the Lightning won a combined 30 games in two seasons. She still ranks tied for 10th on the school's career assists list with seven.
