Helped by two Shaner kills, the Lightning held an early 7-6 lead in set two, but the Chargers erased the one-point deficit with a 10-2 surge to go up 16-9 and took control of the set from that point on. The closest GBC would get was within three as Dominican finished off the set on a 7-1 charge to win 25-16 and take a 2-0 match lead.
Trailing 7-4 in set three, the Lightning scored six of the next eight points to pull in front 10-9 on a McCoy kill. Later with a 12-12 deadlock, GBC rallied off four straight points to go up 16-12 only to surrender four straight points right back for another tie at 16-all. Back and forth the two teams went, until GBC distanced itself with a 3-0 run to go up 24-21 on a kill by Moyer. Dominican scored the next two points and threatended to force extended set play when Stoffer finished off the set with a kill for the Lightning and a 25-23 win.
GBC led 9-8 in the fourth set when the Chargers went on a 7-1 run to go up 15-10. The Lightning could never close within three as Dominican's Michelle Fiorvanti closed out the set and the match with a kill. The Chargers won the set 25-21 and claimed a 3-1 match victory.
Just hours after a playoff eliminating loss, the Lightning looked no worse for wear as they marched to a 3-1 win over Mercy by scores of 25-19, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-21. The Lightning hit a hellacious .429 percentage as a team, combining for 53 kills and just 11 errors.

GBC remained unstoppable in the second set, hitting .560 as a team with 15 kills and just one error on 25 attempts. Once again, McCoy tallied five kills with zero errors on six attempts, and Shustack remained perfect (6-for-6) with two kills on as many attempts. Stoffer and Moyer both got in on the act as well with three kills apiece, and GBC cruised to a 25-21 set two win.
Mercy cooled the Lightning off considerably in set three while Brenna White recorded seven of her match-high 23 kills to lead the Mavericks to a 25-22 win and force a fourth set. The Lightning again were not as sharp, but they took advantage of 10 Maverick errors to pull out a 25-21 victory and complete the 3-1 match victory.
GBC goes on the road Tues. night at 7 p.m. to take on CACC South Division rival Georgian Court in both teams' season finale at the GCU Wellness Center.
