WATERBURY, Conn. - The Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team earned the program's frst victory over Post University since 2006 on Sat. afternoon with a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win on the road. GBC won the first and second sets 25-23 and 25-22, respectively, then lost set three 25-16, and finally came back to win 25-21 in set four.
The Lightning improved to 11-11 overall and 6-7 in league play to keep pace with South Division foe Chestnut Hill and Georgian Court in the race for the fourth playoff spot. CHC (6-7) earned a 3-1 win over Felician to stay tied with GBC for fifth place and GCU (6-6) does not play until Monday.

Kadi McCoy (12 kills, eight digs) and senior middle hitter
Rebecca Stoffer led the Lightning offensively with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Junior setter
Monica Dempsey posted her third straight double-double with 27 assists and 18 digs. Freshman libero
Niki Receveur had her fifth match of over 20 digs as she led the Lightning defensively with a match-high 23 digs.
GBC took advantage of 19 Post attack errors in the first two sets while it hit .229 and .161, respectively to jump out to a 2-0 match lead. The third set, the Lightning slid to a .125 hitting percentage with just seven kills and four errors, and allowed Post to take the set, 25-16.
Lightning head coach Rich Bowers called two timeouts as the Lightning's struggles continuted in set four, allowing the Eagles to soar to a 12-4 lead. But GBC regrouped, and went on to win the set 25-21 to close out the match, 3-1.
Next up for the Lightning is a non-conference match against Lincoln on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Joseph West Jones Center.
