Oxford, PA – Lightning take two from Lincoln University

The Lightning finished out their long weekend at Lincoln University this past Sunday, looking to stretch their 4-game winning streak.  Freshman Ashley Paige gave the Lightning the early 1-0 lead, as classmate Sadie Jones looked to keep the Lincoln offense at bay.  Jones went three and out in the first three innings of play, allowing the Lightning plenty of time at the plate.  The Lightning took game one easily 12-1, as freshman Danielle Rice led the offense by going 3-4 ,with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's.  Junior Kim Narkiewicz added 2 hits, 2 RBI's, and scored 2 runs.  Freshman Cailin Cavanaugh was solid at the plate, going 2-3 with an RBI.

Game two started just like the first, with the Lightning taking an early lead and holding steady.  With hits coming from juniors Lauren Witzke and Danielle Hufford, and freshman Leah Bowman, the Lightning spread their scoring out throughout the seven innings.  For the third time in three days, sophomore Heather Draper took the mound for the Lightning.  Draper had little trouble on the day, as she recorded a season-high 16 strikeouts, on her way to another shutout win, 6-0.  With the win, the Lightning improved to 11-5 overall.

The Lightning will next travel to CACC Preseason #1 ranked Caldwell College on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 for a 2:30pm double header.
