Wilmington, DE – Lightning dominate double header over PSU Abington

 

The Lightning hosted Penn State University Abington on Friday, to start their three-day weekend of play.  Heather Draper graced the pitching mound to start the first game, and struck out two of the four batters she faced in the top of the first inning.  In the first two innings, the Lightning scored seven runs to secure the lead.  Draper continued to dominate on the mound with 10 strikeouts, as she earned her first collegiate no-hitter, and improved her record to 4-3 record on the season.  The Lightning would win the first game 8-0. 

 

Sadie Jones would see the Lightning mound for the first time this season in game.  Jones started strong, only seeing a maximum of four batters in each of the first three innings.  The Lightning bats stayed hot, as the team scored five runs in the first inning and third innings.  The Lightning hit their way to a 12-0 second game win over PSU Abington, as Sadie Jones grabbed her first career home win, and improving her pitching record to 2-1 for the season. 

 

Shannon O'Hara topped the Lightning hit list for the day, going 5-6, with 6 RBI's, while scoring 3 runs.

 

The Lightning will next travel to Nyack College for the CACC opener tomorrow March 21, 2009.
