Men’s Golf Makes a Statement to Close the Blue Hen Intercollegiate

Goldey-Beacom shot a five-over-par 293 to tie for the second-best round of the day and closed seventh overall at the Blue Hen Intercollegiate in Wilmington, DE.
 
In a tournament which 10 of the 12 schools were Division I, Goldey-Beacom tied with Saint Joseph's on the day and both were just four shots in back of Delaware.  The Blue Hens won with 861 and the Lightning ended with 930.
 
Senior William Kelly (Auckland, New Zealand) continued to play solidly, shooting a final-round 71 that included an eagle on the par-three eighth hole and five birdies.  He ended the 54-hole tournament tied for 34th with 232.
 
Senior Guillermo de Miguel (Cadiz, Spain) had the team's best score over the week, closing tied for 28th with 230.  He carded a second-round 78 and on Tuesday shot 81 with four birdies.
 
Freshman Matteo Sasdelli (Florence, Italy) was outstanding Tuesday with a 75, making eagle on the eighth hole to go with two birdies.  He ended tied for 44th with 235.
 
Freshman Isaac Puerto Rodriguez also was tied for 44th with 235, making two birdies as part of a final-round 76.  Junior Pedro Huerta (Merida, Spain) was 55th with 242, including a final-round 77 that featured three birdies.
 
Arsit Areephun from Delaware was the tournament's medalist with 209.
 
Goldey-Beacom returns to action September 25 at the Jefferson Invitational in Norristown, PA.
