Men’s Golf Takes Its First Peek at the NCAA Regional Course

Goldey-Beacom made its way to Erie, PA for the NCAA Regional Preview and saw all five of its golfers put solid numbers on the scorecards during the opening round.

Beto Torres (Merida, Spain) had a tremendous day, carding four birdies that included three straight on the third through fifth holes in closing with 73 to sit tied for eigth. Pedro Huerta (Merida, Spain) fired 78, including 35 on the front nine that saw him record all three of his birdies and is tied for 55th.

Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) shot 79 that included 38 on the back nine to close at seven over par and tied for 70th. Guillermo de Miguel (Cadiz, Spain) recorded three birdies over a span of four consecutive holes in shooting 79. Adrian Bonilla (Almeria, Spain) made an eagle and three birdies to close with 80 and tied for 78th.

Goldey-Beacom is 14th with 309 with Davis & Elkins and Gannon leading the way at 293.

This tournament is being played at the site of the NCAA Regional, which will be held May 8-10 also at Whispering Woods Golf Club. Goldey-Beacom already has qualified by virtue of winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title, its third straight.

Final round action takes place Tuesday.
