Men’s Golf Wins Battlefield Classic

Goldey-Beacom continued its strong start from day one of the Battlefield Classic and was victorious on the second day, pulling off a one-shot victory in Gettysburg, PA.

Tuesday's round from the Lightning saw another impressive day for senior Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia), a three-time All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference member. He shot 72 in the final round and ended third among individual players with 145.

Junior William Kelly (Auckland, New Zealand), also an All-CACC member from a season ago, and Guillermo Gutierrez (Cadiz, Spain) also had strong rounds on the second day, both shooting 74. Kelly ended third among individual players with 146 and finished tied for sixteenth with 153.

Junior Adrian Bonilla (Almeria, Spain) ended the second round shooting 75, placing tied for 10th with 151. Freshman Beto Torres (Merida, Spain) rounded out the scores for the lighting, ending with 75 on the second day and finishing with 156.

The Lightning ended with 595 on the second day to place first. The tournament hosts, West Chester, took home second with 596, while Shepherd placed third with 597.

Jarred Barish of Bloomsburg took medalist honors, shooting 70 on day one and 71 on day two to win with 141.

Goldey-Beacom travels to Belle Vernon, PA on Monday to compete in the Cal Vulcan Invitational. Competition will begin on Monday and conclude on Tuesday.
