Hunter McGee and Pablo Saenz Avila Each Named to the CACC Men’s Golf Weekly Honor Roll

A pair of four-time All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference members each flexed their muscles last week as juniors Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON) and Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) were named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.

McGee ended tied for 10th at the Griffin Invitational with 217. This included shooting a second-round 69 and carding eight birdies on the week.

McGee is coming off another standout season in which he closed fourth in the East Region and had seven top-10 showings. This comes after he was named the 2020-21 CACC Player of the Year and won the 2021-22 CACC individual title.

Saenz Avila also was tied for 10th with 217. Tuesday's final round of the 54-hole tournament saw him card a one-under-par 71, including an eagle on the par-5 11th hole, and two birdies. He had six birdies on the week.

It also has been a strong career for Saenz Avila, who ended last season 24th in the East Region and had four top-10 finishes. One of them included finishing tied for third at the CACC Championship, helping the Lightning win the conference title.

GBC in the tournament ended third, carding 874 that included 289 in the first round. The squad upended CACC-foe Wilmington, which ended 12th with 914.

The Lightning a season ago amassed four victories, including three straight with the aforementioned CACC title, six top-three showings and four individual wins. That continued with the squad competing at the NCAA Regional, ending 12th.

GBC next Monday and Tuesday is at the West Liberty Invitational in Steubenville, OH. It is the final tournament before the CACC Championship, which will be from October 2-3.
