Men’s Golf Continues Impressive Play, Ending Third at the Griffin Invitational

The latest show of excellence from the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion was on display with Goldey-Beacom ending third at the Griffin Invitational in Petersburg, VA.
 
The two-day, 54-hole event had many headliners for the Lightning and one was junior Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON).  The four-time All-CACC performer again dazzled by ending tied for 10th with 217, which included a second-round 69.  He ended with eight birdies on the week.
 
Junior Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia), another four-time All-CACC member, also was tied for 10th with 217.  Tuesday saw him card a one-under-par 71, including an eagle on the par-5 11th hole, and two birdies.  He had six birdies on the week.
 
Sophomore William Kelly (Auckland, New Zealand) also was impressive in closing tied for 31st with 221.  He had an opening-round 72 and on Tuesday shot 74, which included two birdies.
 
Junior Adrian Bonilla (Almeria, Spain) ended tied for 35th with 222, shooting 73 in the first and final rounds.  Tuesday saw him card four of his eight birdies on the week.
 
Junior Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia), an All-CACC performer from last year, followed his second round that featured a hole-in-one with a 76.  He finished tied for 38th with 223, including an opening-round 71.
 
Sophomore David Pic (Wilmington, DE) closed things by ending 86th with 264.
 
Goldey-Beacom carded 874 over the three rounds, which included 289 in the first 18 holes.  The squad upended CACC-foe Wilmington, which ended 12th with 914.
 
GBC next Monday and Tuesday is at the West Liberty Invitational in Steubenville, OH.  It is the final tournament before the CACC Championship, which will be from October 2-3.
