Camilo Samur Named to CACC Men’s Golf Weekly Honor Roll

9/7/2022 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom sophomore Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) last season had a solid campaign and last week picked up where he left off in being selected to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Weekly Honor Roll.

Samur continued his dominant play by ending ninth at the Vulcan Invitational, shooting a career-best 137.  He opened Sunday with 68 to help the Lightning card a school-record 279 for one round and ended with 69 in leading the squad to 563, a new team mark for 36 holes.  Goldey-Beacom ended third and finished the best of the four competing CACC schools.

Success is nothing new for Samur, who last year joined teammates Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON) and Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) in being named all-conference.  Samur in 2021-22 ended the season ranked 20th in the East Region, averaged 75.11 over 11 tournaments, posted six top-10 finishes, broke 75 nine times, won the GBC Fall Invitational by carding 71 and shot a career-best 67 in the second round of the Edwin Cottrell Invitational.

Goldey-Beacom last year finished in a share of the lead in four tournaments and was denied the CACC title on a tiebreaker.  It closed fifth in the East Region, according to Golfstat, and tied for eighth at the NCAA Regional.

Goldey-Beacom returns to action September 13 at the Jefferson Invitational in Norristown, PA.
