Men's Golf Shoots New School Record to End Day One at Vulcan Invitational

Goldey-Beacom took the course for the first time of the 2022 season today at the Vulcan Invitational in Belle Vernon, PA.

The Lightning shot 279 in the first round, a new school record by 13 shots.

Sophomore Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) continuing his impressive play after being named All-CACC last year, sitting at three-under par. Sophomore Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) shot 70 to end the round at one-under-par.

Sophomore Adrian Bonilla (Almeria, Spain) carded one-under-par with 70. Sophomore Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON) and Carlos Riveras (Margarita Island, Venezuela) shot an even 71 and freshman William Kelly (Auckland, New Zealand) fired an even 37 on the back nine to finish a two-over-par 73.

After 12-14 holes of the second round, the team sits at fifth place of 18 teams.

Samur sits tied for 11th place at five-under-par and Saenz Avila finished with two-under-par to be tied for 20th place. McGee and Bonilla both shot one-over-par to sit tied for 40th. Riveras sits just behind at tied for 49th with two-over-par. Kelly is tied for 66th place with five-over-par.

The tournament is set to finish on Monday, with a tee time of 8am.
