Hunter McGee Picked to CACC Men’s Golf Weekly Honor Roll

9/21/2022 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom sophomore Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON), who has enjoyed a beyond exceptional career to date that is far from finished, has been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Weekly Honor Roll.

McGee on Monday tied his career best with 67, helping him shoot 141 to close tied for seventh at the FPU Fall Invitational.  After getting four birdies Sunday in the opening round, McGee went one better Monday on a day in which he had 11 pars and only two bogeys.  McGee's nine birdies on the week and his four-under-par score on par fives both were tied for second.

This helped Goldey-Beacom close seventh out of 16 teams, carding a final-round 292 to end 600 for the championship.  The Navy Blue and Vegas Gold were second of the league's five teams in the field, besting Dominican (NY), Felician and Chestnut Hill.

McGee's resume already is a storied one.  The three-time member of the All-CACC Team won last year's conference individual title and was picked the 2020-21 CACC Player of the Year.  He ended the 2020-21 regular season ranked first in the East Region, according to GolfStat, and finished last year seventh.

This season, McGee owns a 71.8 average over five rounds and finished third September 13 at the Jefferson Invitational.  He helped the Lightning break the school record with a 279 in the first round of the Vulcan Invitational and 563 for the program's best 36-hole total.

Goldey-Beacom on October 3-4 competes at the CACC Championship.  The 54-hole championship will take place at Watertown Golf Club in Watertown, CT.
