William Kelly Named CACC Men’s Golf Rookie of the Week; Carlos Riveras Picked to Weekly Honor Roll

Another standout week for Goldey-Beacom's golf team saw freshman William Kelly (Auckland, New Zealand) named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week and junior Carlos Riveras (Margarita Island, Venezuela) picked to the Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Kelly shot 78 to end tied for fifth Tuesday at the Jefferson Invitational.  He birdied the par-four second hole as part of going out in even-par 35.
 
Riveras recorded his first individual victory, shooting 73 to win the Jefferson Invitational.  This was aided by him getting four consecutive birdies from holes 4-7 and shooting 36 on the front nine.
 
All of this played a massive role in Goldey-Beacom carding 300 to easily win the title over Jefferson (326) and Chestnut Hill (327).  Other notables included Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) ending second with 74 and fellow sophomore Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON) closing third with 75.
 
This comes after GBC opened Labor Day weekend at the Vulcan Invitational, ending third out of 18 schools.
 
Goldey-Beacom is in action Sunday and Monday at the FPU Fall Invitational in Townsend, MA.  Both rounds are shotgun starts, beginning Sunday at 1:00 pm and Monday at 9:00 am.
