Carlos Riveras Records First Collegiate Win; Men's Golf Places First at Jefferson Invitational

Junior Carlos Riveras (Margarita, Venezuela) carded 73 to record his first individual title and lead Goldey-Beacom to first place at the Jefferson Invitational in Norristown, PA.

Riveras notched an incredible four-consecutive birdies on the front nine to shoot one-over par. On the back nine, he played an impressive two-over par to finish the competition first place.

Sophomore Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Columbia) continued consistent play from the previous competition, totaling 74, four-over par and finishing in second place.

Fellow sophomore Hunter McGee (Almonte, Ont.) carded one shot better on his back nine to finish the round just behind Saenz Avila with 75.

Freshman William Kelly (Auckland, New Zealand) and sophomore Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Columbia) finished their rounds with 78 and 79, respectively.  Kelly ended tied for fifth and Samur was seventh.

The Lightning shot 300, placing them first overall in a meeting of schools from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Jefferson University carded 326 and Chestnut Hill totaled 327.

Goldey-Beacom take a trip up to Townsend, MA to compete in the FPU Fall Invitational on Sunday and Monday. Tee times are scheduled for 1pm on Sunday and 9am on Monday.
