Goldey-Beacom's women's basketball team received more academic attention by garnering "Special Mention" for academic excellence by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

This was not a surprise considering Goldey-Beacom gained a league-best seven honorees on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Academic Honor Roll.  This included Sarah Round (Northampton, England), Lexi Weikert (Harrisburg, PA), Jhordan Gardner (Swedesboro, NJ) and Vera Lauhaluoma (Espoo, Finland) each earning their third appearance, Janiya Stevens (Ellendale, DE) getting a second nod with Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE) and Julie McCarron (Wilmington, DE) making the list for the first time.

Round continued to battle through injuries in playing a significant role on the squad, both with her outstanding court awareness and leadership skills that are valuable on and off the court.  She closed 22nd in the league a season ago with 32 three-pointers, ending the campaign fourth with 167 career 3-pointers and 16th with 779 points before embarking on her final season.

Weikert once again received solid minutes with her great shooting that during her sophomore campaign had her among the league's elite with a .376 three-point percentage and 35 three-pointers.  Gardner made a career-best 14 starts a season ago, giving the squad a huge lift late in the campaign that included her scoring 13 points in the finale against Wilmington.

Lauhaluoma played 22 games a season ago in a crowded lineup and her strong play gave needed relief to many of the starters.  Stevens saw her playing time jump in a big way, starting 15 games and scoring nine points on two occasions.

Speaks, an all-conference and all-region standout in soccer, got her way back onto the floor late in the year and scored at least 10 points on three occasions in playing just eight games.  McCarron competed in 22 games and saw her minutes increase late in the season, which included her netting six points in each of her last two full games.
