Goldey-Beacom women's basketball put up a strong fight against Chestnut Hill at the Joseph West Jones Center in Wilmington, DE, but was dealt an 81-73 loss by its conference opponent.
The first quarter saw even play from both sides before Chestnut Hill gained an edge and went into halftime with a seven point lead. The Lightning cut the lead to five with 10 minutes left to play, but Chestnut Hill remained strong on the offensive end and picked up their second conference victory of the season.
Goldey-Beacom was led by sophomore Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, Pa.), who finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and who shot 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Fellow sophomore Marasia Dyes (Binghamton, N.Y.) recorded 15 points and seven assists, Karlee Lemon (Williamsburg, Va.) had 13 points and fellow senior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.
Chestnut Hill was led by Tiayo Adelekan with 27 points and 10 rebounds and Tikyra Miller with 21 points.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Tuesday, when it faces Wilmington (DE) in Newark, DE at 6:00 pm.
