Goldey-Beacom men's golf returned to action Wednesday and left in grand style by winning the Jefferson Tri-Match, which took place at Union League Liberty Hill in Lafayette Hill, PA.

Goldey-Beacom ended the day with 295, just three shy of breaking the school record set in September 2008 at the Wilmington University Fall Classic.  Today marked the third-best score in a round in school history.

Freshman Mason Kucy (Camrose, Alb.) led the way by taking medalist honors with an even-par 72, marking a personal best.  He made five birdies on the day and shot one under par on the par fours.

Reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON) followed close behind, ending with a one-over-par 73 to finish tied for second.  He had three birdies overall and shot three under par on the par fives.

Freshman Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia), also named All-CACC each of the last two seasons, was fourth with a two-over-par 74.  Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) also excelled by ending fifth with a four-over-par 76, tying a personal best.

University of the Sciences ended second with 321 and Jefferson was next at 341.  No individual scores from the other teams were available at this time.

With the victory, first-year coach Steve Golt is believed to be the first coach in program history to get a victory in his debut match.

Goldey-Beacom travels to Keene, NH to compete September 12-13 to compete in the FPU Fall Invitational, teeing off at 11:00 am Sunday and 8:00 am Monday.
