Camilo Samur Records First Victory; Helping Men’s Golf to Second Win of the Season

Freshman Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) carded 71 to notch his first collegiate victory and propel Goldey-Beacom to the top spot at the GBC Fall Invitational, contested at Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, DE.
 
Samur again played great, notching three birdies on the day and shooting a tournament-best one-under par on the par-three holes and the par-five holes.  His 35 on the back nine was highlighted by a birdie on the par-four 10th hole and the par-four 13th.
 
Freshman Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) also had a solid day, ending second with 73.  This included a one-under 34 on the front side with a birdie on the par-four first hole and the par-four ninth.
 
Freshman Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON) ended fourth with 75, carding 35 on the inward nine that included a birdie on the par-three 11th hole and the par-four 17th.
 
Freshman Mason Kucy (Camrose, AB) and sophomore Carlos Riveras (Margarita, Venezuela) each finished tied for eighth with 79.
 
The Lightning shot 298 for their second win of the season as they also captured the season-opening Jefferson Tri-Match.  In an All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference affair, Chestnut Hill was second with 320, University of the Sciences was next with 326 and Felician carded 349.
 
Goldey-Beacom next Monday and Tuesday competes at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship in Watertown, CT.
