Freshman Hunter McGee (Carp, ON) continued his beyond impressive campaign by ending third at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Championship, aiding Goldey-Beacom to a third-place showing in Haworth, NJ.

McGee played great on the opening nine, going out in 35 that included chipping in for eagle on the par-four second hole.  He added to that by getting a birdie both on the par-five third hole and the par-five eighth hole to own a one-shot lead at the turn.

He recorded a birdie on the par-five 11th hole and notched five pars on the back nine, coming in at 38 to end his round with 73 and a spot on the all-tournament team.  McGee's three-under-par score on par-five holes was a tournament best and his even-par round on par fours was tied for first.

It was McGee's third straight top-three finish after winning March 30 at the Griffin Invitational and Monday at the Mike Bello Invitational.  He entered the tournament ranked second in the East Region according to GolfStat and now is averaging 73.9 strokes over seven rounds this season.

Freshman Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) was more than impressive at his first conference championship, ending tied for fifth with 76 to join McGee on the all-tournament team.  His round included four birdies with back-to-back threes on the par-four 16th and 17th holes.

Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) had yet another strong showing, finishing 11th with 80.  The freshman opened with five pars on the front nine and then recorded birdie on the 16th hole to go with pars on 10 through 12.

Freshman Mason Kucy (Camrose, AB) ended tied for 16th with 82, closing with 10 pars.

Goldey-Beacom closed the round at 311 with Dominican (NY) taking the crown at 305, one better than Concordia (NY).  Alexander Lundvall won medalist honors with a one-under-par 71.

Goldey-Beacom now waits to learn if a selection into the NCAA Regionals as a team or with individuals is in the cards.  The selection announcement is scheduled to be posted this Friday at 5:00 pm Eastern Time on NCAA.com.

The Lightning entered the week ranked ninth in the East, both by GolfStat and the NCAA Regional rankings.
